Method
- Add the vodka and witch hazel to the spray bottle.
- Add the essential oils and swirl to disperse.
- Add the distilled water.
- Cap, shake well, and label.
If you dont want to use vodka and witch hazel this can also be made with polysorbate 20, which is used to disperse the essential oils into the water, you will also need to use a broad spectrum preservative.
Alternative recipe
For a 4 fl oz room spray bottle, use:
- ½ cup distilled water, minus about 1 teaspoon
- 1 teaspoon Polysorbate 20
- ¼ teaspoon essential oils
- ⅛ teaspoon Liquid Germall Plus
Method
- Mix the Polysorbate 20 and essential oils together until completely uniform.
- Gradually add the distilled water and stir well.
- Add the Liquid Germall Plus and mix thoroughly.
- Pour into a clean, sanitised 4 fl oz spray bottle.
- Label and shake before use.
These volume measurements are approximate because preservatives are most accurately measured by weight. For a more precise 4 fl oz batch, use:
- 113.4 g distilled water
- 4.8 g Polysorbate 20
- 1.2 g essential oils
- 0.6 g Liquid Germall Plus
This keeps the essential oils at 1% and the Liquid Germall Plus at 0.5%.
